From Barbara Valerioti:
The D Personality looks at COVID as a definite interruption to its goals and objectives. It is an intrusion into their day and life and is not met with appreciation. D’s tend to focus on their own objectives and tend not to focus on others and may not listen to what others are saying about the crisis.
It can be their way or the highway! Because D’s want freedom and control to act, putting a D under quarantine will likely be met with resistance, however, D’s are adept at communicating goals and directions for others, and will likely get their quarantine group moving in a productive direction on a project of the D’s choosing in short order. Because D’s can be impulsive and possibly stubborn, it will benefit the group to have some S Personality people around to help diffuse any ill-conceived plans if they can use their sweet spirit to do so.
Since D’s tend to disregard the needs of others, and often lack compassion for those who are suffering, it will be important for them to temper that in a quarantine situation so as to not make the situation direr than it is. If there are C personalities in the quarantine group, it would behoove them to set about creating a detailed plan of objectives that the D can execute to keep them busy during the quarantine. Once there are signs that the quarantine might be changing or slowing, it’s the D who will kick into action. With their sharp mind and strong will-power, they will be the ones the group will turn to in order to help get them out of their predicament. Being not dismayed by adversities, the D will jump at the chance to get the group moving toward a successful goal.
We continue with Day 2 in how DISC personalities experience being quarantined personally and with those they are being quarantined together with at home?
As I said yesterday I am like almost everyone reading this email in that the past few weeks I have had lots of Skype, GotoMeeting, Zoom, and phone calls with those who serve with me at PLACE Ministries. Each day we are looking at a couple of my team members, Jamie Parler and Barbara Valerioti who wrote interesting insights to me that I want to share with you. As mentioned yesterday we don’t want to trivialize the situation but all of us need a smile or two these days. And with most of us confined to our homes it will be a good time to learn how people think and process through the lens of their personalities.
We are rotating each day between Jamie and Barbara and what they wrote for each DISC personality. On the 9th day I will write and let you know my thoughts and how I have interacted as a spiker D personality with family, co-workers, friends, acquaintances, and strangers through the last few weeks. On day 10 I want to give you a few words on hope and encouragement as
we go through this experience together.
