My hope is if you have our Implementation Guide you will take the time to read the over
60 pages where we have laid out what it means to Execute Your PLACEment Purpose.
And if you don’t have our Implementation Guide my desire is you will be engaged enough
to purchase one and begin to incorporate these four steps as you implement PLACE or any other ministry in your church or organization.
As I regularly state these articles are meant to be short so I will only outline some of
what is meant by Execute Your PLACE purpose. Below are several bullet points (again
expounded on in the PLACE Implementation Guide:
-Create Your PLACE Team and How To Create It
-Characteristics of Effective Connection Coaches
-Execute PLACE with Who and Why?
-Execute PLACE in What Settings and Why?
-Barriers to Executing PLACE
Randy and Vivian are part of God’s PLACE team Executing PLACE in incredible ways at First Redeemer Church.
Once again thanks for taking the time to read this article and giving me the privilege to serve you!
Serving Him Together,
Proverbs 15:22 says, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they
succeed.” This verse is so relevant as to why PLACE often is unsuccessful in churches.
A few weeks ago I called up my friend Ryan Mason who is the Executive Pastor of
Family Ministries at First Baptist Church in Colleyville, TX. I said to Ryan, “You are
three for three”. I said this three times and he said, “Yes, but what am I three for three
in”? The day I called Ryan was after one of our PLACE National Trainings where Ryan
sent four people to be trained in PLACE. This was the third PLACE National Training
Ryan (he attended the first two with his team) has sent members from his church to be
trained and catch the vision of PLACE. The members he has sent to all three trainings
have and will continue to make PLACE successful at his church.
Now back to Proverbs 15:22. Proverbs 15:22 says, “Plans fail for lack of counsel
(people and the right people), but with many advisers (people and the right people) they
In Executing PLACE you must bring onboard the right people to represent PLACE in
different roles on the PLACE team. Vivian Ma who you see below is part of the PLACE
Involvement Team at my church. Vivian regularly stands outside our worship
auditorium on Sunday’s before and after services at a table where she talks and yes
even signs up people who are interested in going through the PLACE experience.
There is a banner beside the tale that you see in the picture with Vivian promoting the
PLACE experience. I often laugh that Vivian is a walking banner for PLACE. Vivian is
definitely in the right PLACE promoting PLACE within my church.
Randy Drury who you see below has been teaching PLACE for about 15 years at my
church. Fifteen years ago Randy and his wife went through PLACE and Randy was
dramatically impacted by PLACE. Randy has the spiritual gift of Teaching and recently
during the “Connecting Passion to Ministry” session of PLACE told those who were
attending that one of his passion groups is “UnPLACEd People”. Randy was so
articulate with his spiritual gift of Teaching coupled with his passion group for
“UnPLACEd” people as to why he loves TEACHING PLACE.
As we did last week let’s quickly review the steps to implementing PLACE in your church or organization.
The four steps are:
1. Determine Your Purpose
2. Communicate Your Purpose
3. Execute Your Purpose
4. Evaluate Your Purpose
I stated in Part 1 of this series that most churches skip Steps 1 and 2
(Determine and Communicate) and never implement Step 4 (Evaluate). But, it
doesn’t matter how well you Determine, Communicate and Evaluate if you don’t get
Step 3 – Execute Your Purpose – right, you are doomed to fail as Proverbs15:22 tells us.
